Ok ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, as of today I will be posting again. I've had enough of the break, and am ready to start everything again, BUT some changes are going to occur here at DHS.
Let's start with the things that won't change. I will continue posting the latest movie songs/soundtracks and your requests as before. I will give priority to new releases, and post the requests whenever I have moretime. The albums requested first will be posted first, so if you have requested any, please be patient because it may take a while till I get to your one.
Things that will change includes the file format. Even though the majority of those of you who voted (137 votes) in the polls were in favour of mp3s (122 votes), I will go ahead with the idea of switching to .rm (Real Media Audio) files. Some of the reasons for doing so include:
- .rm files are a lot smaller than mp3s which will take less time to download and they will take less space on your hard drives
- there are a lot of sources for .rm files, including big and legit websites like Smashits.com and Raaga.com that I can link to
- there are a lot less hassles involed with linking to those files, instead of uploading mp3s to free servers myselft and then linking to them
- there will be no bandwidth issues as there are multiple sources that we can use if one goes down
- and finally the issue of legality of this blog will be to some extends resolved as I will be linking to what is already there and will not have to do anything with hosting of the files or their servers
For those of you who prefer mp3 files, I have a different solution. I will soon write a tutorial on how to convert .rm files into mp3s if you need to, which will only take 2 minutes to do (that's an approximate, it may take longer with slower and older computers). There is a free software that can do the job perfectly, so all you will have to do would be a few clicks and you will have your mp3s.
By the way, thanks to those who took the time to vote and special thanks to those who informed me of their choices through email. Thank you very much, I highly appreciate that.
UPDATE: I forgot to mention that the ones already available as mp3s will stay that way unless I'm forced to change them for some reason.
